After a long development process we are proud to present you Beta 5.

A lot of changes have been made in Beta 5. Most significant is the switch to Kernel 2.6.24 (+ fwlanusb fix) and a complete build upon ‘Hardy Heron’.

Magi 2 alias Cyberghost is included in its new build version 057 with an improved OneClickInstallation process and a new Development and Systemsetting Tab.
Graphical Tools help you to configure the IceWM Desktop Environment.

We also included and replaced all KDE (3) stuff with its GTK counterparts. That improves the system performance a lot and creates a better look and feel.
New Applications like Gencoder and Videtis are included and enhance the media conversion and videocd creation.

A lot more patches and tools are included in this version. So just check out the new ZevenOS Beta 5. (or the Beta 5 Screenshot Gallery)

I tested it with mdf files known from Alcohol 120% and bin files. It works pretty well so far.

This is my first offical PyGTK App so it might be not the most advanced tool but it does its job. The sourcode is released under the terms of GPLv3. So feel free to add new features if you like.

I made some very good progress on Cyberghost that reached build number 050 today.

The Development Tab is ready and the Settings Manager is getting better and better (see screenshots).
I also started some work on an Energy Manager and Networkmanager.

Last but not least some bugfixes. As you might notice when trying to use Fritz WLAN USB with Hardy, it has some big issues that produces freezes with the included driver. Until a offical fix (new driver perhaps) we will blacklist the fwlanusb driver and advice beginners to use ndiswrapper instead. Experienced users might try to compile the original driver from AVM Sites.

The upgrading to the new Base System has begun. Together with this upgrade we also upgraded the good old apps, like Magi 1 that was updated to Version 1.01 with minor bugfixes. Then we are constantly working on Magi 2: Codename Cyberghost that has reached Build 010 now, including a new Development Tab and first works on a Settings Center. This Settings Center includes only the IcePanel Configuration Tool for now. (IcePanel allows you basic configuration of the panel).

The next big update is our effort in Replacing K3b with Brasero + Gencoder .
Gencoder base is more or less at its final stages. The only thing missing right now is GUI.

The work on the IceWM Configuration Tools is also going on well.

New plans and visions for new crazy but very usefull applications is the last thing to report for today.

zeVenOS will be good, very good, when we are ready So stay tuned !

One of the biggest changes in Beta 5 will be the desktop manager switch from rox-filer to pcmanfm.
PcManFM has finally a state where we think it is useable on the desktop and stable enough.

With the help of some new programmers we are also making progress in replacing our existing beloved apps such as k3b with something that is at least as powerfull as k3b. For basic burning we will include brasero burning app. But to replace k3b we needed a little bit more. A nice tool that can create VideoCDs/DVDs. But thats not everything it has a lot more features you can see in our next Beta release.

So thanks for all programmers and community members who are supporting us
